Today I officially moved all of Saiyler’s play stuff to the backyard. It doesn’t look like a lot but it is, and it took a long ass time lol. Did that in 100 degree weather. This whole week we have a heat wave and yet my dumbass decided it was time to start the project.

We’ve been using all of her stuff in the front yard since we have ticks and other bullshit in the back (due to being directly on the woods). We also have a decent amount of acreage and animals galore around here so it just wasn’t the best idea to move any of the stuff until I had a decent plan ahead.

So the current plan is to piece together every play-set sometime in the morning if it isn’t 100 degrees still. Then I plan to move them into the places I think will be best for her and my other future kids. I’ll try to get Tyler to help me move some of the heavier play-sets around since I’m almost 30 weeks pregnant lol. Then I will use the grass marking paint I bought and design a layout that would work best for the current pieces, and additional pieces I may want to add in the future. I’ll plan to rent out a sod cutter some time next week when we aren’t in this heat wave, so I can clear out any remaining grass and just have dirt to work with. I plan to add turf, mulch, evergreens, and a concrete pathway (I plan to DIY unless pregnancy prevents me from doing so) so ultimately it will be a backyard playground area. I’m doing this not only for my children, but because I know that I will be the mother that has everyone over, hosts parties whenever I can for family/friends/neighbors, and I’d like kids of all ages to be able to eventually use the area even when I grow old someday (including *possible future grandchildren). I just wanna see kids be happy. I’ve already told my neighbors about this idea so I’m hoping it lives up to what I’ve told them (and also pushes me not to bullshit about the project and fucking finish it ASAP).

Also I should clarify that I know the majority of people are working 9-5, trying to make things work and push through life day by day. I know a lot of you don’t get free time to do things like this. But I hope I can eventually share ways to save money and also tackle DIY projects whenever you get the chance to. While I know I’m privileged to be dating someone with money, I still consider myself frugal. I don’t like hiring people. I like doing whatever I can by myself, or teaching myself through videos. I am fortunate enough to have time to browse Facebook Marketplace a lot, so that is what I like to do when I can. That is how I find a majority of the items I share. So many of my DIY projects are not done with new items unless I absolutely have to do so! I also attend weekend garage sales, watch ads on my email, go to consignment stores, and I join swap groups to see if free items come about. I take what I “need” at the moment. I know I can grab much more, but I don’t want to always take away from others who actually need something more than me. I don’t “need” anything more than the majority of folks shopping at these places.

Anyways, enough yapping for now. This is just a random post for today. I don’t know how often I’ll post but I figured some of you may be interested in hearing my adhd brain and the hundreds of ideas I get on a daily basis. It’s draining…but also exciting…if it gets done. I’ll post some photos of the setup currently, and also pictures of my backyard inspo. I’ll leave a link to my Pinterest if you ever wanna see my ideas too. Goodnight yall.

  3. You sound like a young mother who is very fortunate to be in the position you are. I’m so glad to hear you’re making the most of it. I became a mother back in the early 80s and my kids would have loved to grow up with a backyard this beautiful. My late husband was a contractor, so he knew the ins and outs of all kinds of home renovation. I frequently write to his old friend, Terry, whom he met on the job. He is also quite knowledgeable, so if you need any advice I’d love to help out a fellow mother doing her best. Feel free to write me back with any questions on your projects and I’d be happy to relay some answers.

    Much love,

    Angela.
